I’m sorry I’ve not had a chance to post in a while; I’ve been extremely busy working on a new and very exciting project at the company that I joined recently.

Well now, the first cut of software is ready, and we’re officially in beta; so I thought I’d let everyone know about it.

This is just an interim post; I’m working on a more interesting one; where I’ll be going into some detail (within the limits of my NDA) about the application we’ve built; how it works and what it does; and how it could change your life for the better very quickly.

Briefly; Doxmart provides an open marketplace for anyone to sell anything that they have - in terms of documents, audio, video, software, etc - basically anything that is digital in nature - at least for the moment; who knows what the future may hold.

So here’s a scenario; my scenario for example; I had been working for a few years as those of you who know me are aware; within the mobile telecom’s industry; build up software to do magical things to calls that came in via VOIP networks and route them correctly onto the appropriate cellular networks here (in England), as well as abroad.

Well, for reasons outside my control; the companies I worked with are pretty defunct now; and as a result I have been left with a lot of research material that is now really doing nothing more than clogging up my hard drive(s)!!

Ordinarily; I can’t do anything with this stuff; I don’t want to give it away for free - as it took a lot out of me to build up this information; so what can I do?  Someone might say - why not put it up on Ebay? - sure I can put it on Ebay; but I have no control over it; I have a lot of work I have to do to prep it up ready for Ebay; and also the market on Ebay is for physical goods; sure if I want a game for my Xbox 360 Elite, I can go on over to Ebay and get one; if I want to buy a network switch, I can go to Ebay, and get one; but for documents and digital media; I don’t think so.

So, for a long time this valuable information that I built up over time (and that I have checked is indeed still valid at this time) is being wasted; now; suddenly we have Doxmart, somewhere that caters directly for what I want; and so that’s what I’ve done:

I took a portion of my work - notably on the Mobile Number Prefixes for the most common UK Networks - and hosted it on Doxmart.  Now anyone who wants this information can find it and buy it, from that Doxmart makes some money, I make some money; and soon I’ll be able to donate some of that money to a charity of my choosing - read more about Doxmart for Charities - which is going to be a really interesting and innovative way for charities to receive funding.

There are a lot of interesting items already at Doxmart, and more are in the pipeline; remember you can upload a whole load of different items and have previews created for them (I know all about the previews; that portion of the software platform is code that I have worked extensively on!); and in the rare instances where a preview can’t be created; it can still be sold at Doxmart.

Right; that’s all for now; I will be posting in more detail about the Document Preview Process; as well as a HOWTO showing how to upload documents to Doxmart and such things; these will probably be on the Doxmart Blog, but they will generally be replicated here also, so update your book marks (the Doxmart Blog might not be live at the time of writing, but it will be very soon).
