Blood Pressure Monitoring Tool – Version 1.0 Release Candidate now on Codeplex

I have released the first public version (still a release candidate) of my Blood Pressure Monitoring Tool on Microsoft CodePlex – you can get it from the project’s CodePlex Homepage located at http://www.codeplex.com/bpmtool.

There are a number of known issues and I’m expecting a new release candidate to be released at the end of this week; for now suffice it to say that the bugs in the system are not critical; the application works and stores data successfully within it’s XML file format.

It can also export to PDFs successfully; and that essentially lets it function; the bugs that I’ve found are primarily aesthetic and to do with look and feel issues.

Here are a set of screenshots for your viewing pleasure:

The final version of the application will come in two modes; one will be the open source (free) version available from CodePlex, the second will be the more feature rich version; which will include advanced graphing, the ability to compare readings; storing readings including medication; storing control readings and so on.  The Enhanced edition will also interface with some blood pressure monitoring devices via USB connectivity and be able to automatically obtain readings; including taking timed readings the application for which could be within the medical profession and medical clinics for monitoring in-patients with conditions that may be effected by changes in blood pressure.  It will also include alerts when the pressure is detected as high; and the ability to customize a user’s blood pressure matrix.

More details will be forthcoming as development gets to a stage where the software is ready for public beta testing.

Users of the free version (the one on CodePlex), will get priority when beta testing the Enhanced edition enters public beta.

Please do let me know your thoughts on the application at this time.

An important note:

The current version on CodePlex’s Release Page has a minor bug on the installation.  It doesn’t create any shortcuts!!

Therefore; until I get around to uploading a fixed version; you can locate the program “BPMonitor.exe” in the directory you installed to – the default being:

For x86 Systems:
C:\Program Files\Shabbir R Hassanally\Blood Pressure Monitor\

For x64 Systems:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Shabbir R Hassanally\Blood Pressure Monitor\

A true 64bit version will be available as time permits.

The final version of the Enhanced version will be available from Doxmart stay posted for details here.

Finally; I am looking for a trusted (and ideally global) charity to which some of the proceeds from the Enhanced version of the Blood Pressure Monitor can be donated (again via Doxmart), so if you know of a charity; get them to register on Doxmart by going to the Charity Page.

Ideally; I’m looking for a charity that is involved with the Blood Pressure area; but I’m willing to involve any charity within the medical arena; so if you are; or know someone who is; I’d love to hear from them – again; I can be contacted using the Doxmart Messaging System (that link will take you to a page where you can send me a message – but again you’ll have to be registered on Doxmart to send messages – so go on – register!  It doesn’t cost anything and there are many many benefits.

That’s all for now; but let me know how you find this application and if you can suggest improvements I’d love to know – and you will be credited within the application for any improvements that are suggested and that become part of either the free or the enhanced version.

Warm Regards,

Shabbir
