On the Islamic Awakening, Protesting, Revolution, Resistance and the Perils of Ignorance and Arrogance

Recently there was an event at the Haydari Islamic Centre, South London on the subject of Baqee’ Day. This program was broadcast live on AhlulBayt TV and anyone could watch it if they had a satellite dish, or more specifically on the Sky EPG Platform on Sky Channel 842 – or indeed anywhere they broadcast or even by watching them online.

Now, I am not a fan of that channel as most people know, but it is nice that they were broadcasting a conference/seminar on the subject of al-Baqee’. A place that has been ransacked by the Wahhabi Zionists originating in the province of Najd of the Arabian Peninsula. On that note, I refuse to call the country the name it claims – “Saudi Arabia” – as it is invalid to call an entire country by the name of a single family – after we don’t call Great Britain the Windsorite Kingdom!! But I digress.

The concept of al-Baqee day is a day to remember the occupation and plunder of the Occupied Arabian Pensisula by this group of extremists, that incidently have given life and succour to groups such as the Taleban and al-Qaeda. When they occupied the Arabian Peninsula (we’ll call it Arabia for brevity for now), with much help from the British Government at the time, and in response to the “Allies” wanting the destruction of the Ottoman Empire/Caliphate (an already corrupt and cancerous entity, but that’s another discussion for another day), when they occupied Arabia, they proceeded to impose their extreme and illiterate version of what they called Islam (again another discussion for another day) upon the masses.

They followed and continue to follow an extreme brand of Islam, which has missed the spirit of Islam in it’s entirity, and where they interpret things from a very litteral perspective. If a person – in their opinion – visits the grave of a deceased person, even if said deceased person is the Prophet of Islam(S) – or even their parents, then that person by some confused logic is worshiping said grave of said deceased person. Therefore, the “scholars” (and the term here is used very liberally) of this confused doctrine – known as Wahhabiyyah or Salafism (take your pick they are interchangable) – declared that all constructions of places of prayer near or on graves was a “innovation” and that said items should be demolished.

They demolished the historic graveyards of Jannat al-Baqee in Madinah and Jannat al-Moalla in Makkah, as well as countless mosques, the libraries and homes of the Prophet(S) and his family in Makkah and Madinah and they were prepared to demolish the Masjed an-Nabawi – the Prophet(S)’s Mosque in Madinah, and according to some historical accounts even the Ka’bah – to fulfil their confused believe system. One of the reasons why the Afghan Taliban demolished the statues of Budha in Afghanistan that were historical gems and NOT places where people worshipped Budha as was alleged by the same Taleban and their Wahhabi Overlords was exactly this reasoning used by the early Wahhabi “Scholars”.

Anyways, to cut a long story short. The Wahhabiyyah Cult have on many occasions shown that they have more in common with the Zionists who have occupied Palestine, and who murder, rape, pillage and demolish that which they desire citing any manner of reasons (rational, logical or sane is not a criteria for said reasons), than with anyone following the Islam delivered to humanity by Prophet Muhammad(S).

The Zionists infact have a quiet and tacit agreement (though neither party will ever admit it) with the Occupiers of Arabia, with preventing the rights of the oppressed in Palestine from ever materializing.

When Gaza was being bombed during operation Cast Lead (2008/2009) the Occupiers of Arabia could have quite easily switched off the oil supply to their American masters in protest and in solidarity with the oppressed in Gaza, but what did they do? Nothing. Not a thing. They sat by, occupying Islam’s most holy places and oppressing the masses of Arabia, and allowed the carnage to continue. In Lebanon when the people decided they wanted a fair and just government, what did the Occupiers of Arabia do? They funded their lackey Sa’ad al-Hariri to try and bribe people and buy votes so as to rig the election. 7amdu lillah they exposed their reality.

And don’t believe the lies about the “Saudis” being uber Islamic. Go ask anyone why they built the so-called “King Fahd Causeway” to Bahrain. Because while in Occupied Arabia alcohol is forbidden, they can travel to Bahrain (run by one of their buddies, and I’ll come to that shortly) and they did ever Thursday night through Friday (Thursday and Friday in the Middle East being like Saturday and Sunday in the West)) and would get drunk to the point of stupidity, then they would commit all manner of crimes aganst the people of Bahrain, all under the “protection” of the “King” of Bahrain and his little minions from the family of Aal-Khalifah and it’s stooges.

When at the start of 2011, these occupiers of Arabia saw the so-called “Arab Spring” – what I prefer to refer to as the Islamic Awakening – they were panicked. Their long time buddies were falling like a carefully lined up stack of dominoes. ZeinalAbedin Bin Ali in Tunisa, Mubarak of Egypt, Ghaddafi of Libya, and they also see Aal Khalifa in Bahrain and their long time lapdog Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen, and others, all struggling and in serious trouble. The people of the Muslim World had gotten sick of the oppression, the lies, corruption and arrogance of these despots and so-called kings.

The people were sick and tired of of the ignorant and corrupt oligarchs that while under the pretense of “leading” the people, were busy filling their pockets and subjugating the people. The people realised that Islam – the true Islam of Muhammad(S) – was against injustice and tyranny and that they could rely on their faith in Allah and His Justice to create a scenario where they could break the shackles of the arrogant oligarchs, and allow themselves to be governed by the divine rules and laws provided by Allah. The masses realised that Islamic Iran had accomplished this over 30 years ago at the victory of the Glorious Islamic Revolution in Iran, and that Islam provided a valid, fair, just and sane system of governance for the people that provided engendered harmany and compassion amongst the people, and ensured that the system was protected through being firm and strong against the disbelievers:

The barrier of fear that had been imposed by the oligarchs was broken and the people rose up in unison across the world – not just in the Islamic World, but also in places as far afield as within the American Empire itself, all saying in unison their cry “The people demand the destructure of the (despotic) regime”!

On seeing this, the Occupiers of Arabia, the so-called Family of Saud, firstly gave succour to the first of the deposed despots – ZeinalAbedin Bin Ali of Tunisia, offering him refuge and succour in “their” country. They then further attempted to prop up the despotic, corrupt and cancer-ridden regime of Mr Mubarak in Egypt, and continued to “advise” and provide succour to their minions in places such as the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

But in Bahrain they took it further. When they saw that the people were rising, and that the revolution that had been sparked off decades ago, now had developed momentum, and that the children of the many martyrs were not awake and were not going to sit back and take the injustices of the Khalifa Family who treat Bahrain like it’s their birthright, who gave over a third of Bahrain to the United States of America to base their Fifth Fleet out of, and who provide alcohol, drugs and prostitutes to the “Saudis” on their weekends. The people of Bahrain rose and demanded their rights. They demanded that all Bahrainis be allowed to work, be allowed to own land, be allowed to be free in their country. The Bahraini people rose up peacefully – indeed one of their slogans was “Silmiyyeh, Silmiyyah” (Peacfully, peacefully).

How did the Bahraini Oligarchs respond? With the opening of dialog? With a readiness to negotiate? If only that had been the case, rather they went running to their masters in Occupied Riyadh, and called in the forces of the “Peninsula Shield Force”, an creation of the Persian Gulf Co-operation Council, that is only to be used (according to it’s own charter) if there is an external thread on a country – in this case Bahrain.

Since when have the people of a country been an external threat? Indeed one can argue that the Peninsula Sheild should have been deployed the moment the United States Navy Fifth Fleet was parked in Bahrain, as that is an external invasion and occupation!!

The Peninsula Sheild Force and the Bahrain Police (made up primarily of non-Bahraini Mercenearies from across the world, many of whome do not even speak Arabic with any degree of fluency), attacked the peaceful protests, martyring many and injuring even more. Those injured went to hospitals across Bahrain to have their injuries treated and at the hospitals they were arrested and doctors – medical personel who are bound by the Hippocratic Oath to treat and not harm those who require treatment – doctors and medical personel who insisted on treating the wounded were arrested and rounded up, beaten, tortured and thrown into what can only be fairly described as the dungeons of Bahrain to rot.

This is behaviour that is identical to the practices of the Zionists in Occupied Palestine and of the American Empire across the world. This behavior is reprehensible and no sane person can stand by and watch it without raising theri voices in protest. To remain silent in the face of these attrocitites – be they in Bahrain, Occupied Arabia, Occupied Palestine, France, Britain, America, etc is a crime against humanity and against sanity!

Anyways, now that the scene has been set, let me come back to what prompted me to make this blog post. Firstly, watch this video:

In this video – the first part at least – we see a certain Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak – let loose a diatribe of ignorance on the subject of protests and protesting and on the subject of Islamic Unity. This imbecile suggests that the idea of protesting is a “joke” and that the notion of Islamic Unity is a “fiction”.

Subhan Allah!

And this is a guy who professes to be a teacher of Islamic concepts, who is allowed to sit atop the pulpit of the Prophet(S) in various Islamic Centres across the world and give “guidance” to the people. Subhan Allah! How strange and how ignorant and above all how tragic!

This person has not spent even a nano-second in the Islamic Seminaries learning about Islam, his knowledge is lacking at best, and such is proven by his hypothesis, which he attempts to give under the ruse of being some sort of deep and meaningful philosopher.

Now I was going to initially sit down and transcribe his words, but I’m not going to bother. You can watch what he says quite comfortably on the video above (if that Youtube account gets taken offline I will make the video available elsewhere, as it breaks no copyrights and is provided simply as a reference. I’ve already downloaded the video so that won’t be a problem, should the need arise). Instead, I’m going to go through the misconceptions he’s made, and in detail explain why they are so problematic and why going to protests, making petitions, and resisting injustice in whatever way is possible – regardless of the percieved end-result – is so important that in fact it is an Islamic obligation, with the emphasis on actually performing the task of resistance, rather than seeing the results and the demise of the despotic and unjust entities.

In fact it is quite surprising that Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak is considered by many to be something of an “authority on Islam and Islamic Thought” and a “scholar”, using the title of “Shaykh” quite liberally for himself, as if it were going out of fashion even. In fact he has scribed a book that we pray insha Allah never sees the light of day, that is designed to give a “definitive” answer on a question in Islamic history that even the great historian (1901-2007), Ayatullah Allameh Sayyed Murtadha(RA) couldn’t provide. Also, many many other historians have also not given a final answer on this subject.

But regardless, Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak – without any knowledge of even the most basic of the Arabic or Farsi (Persian) languages has decided (so as to examine the historical sources – the sources are generally not translated into English, and besides a good and diligent researcher should be able to interrogate original sources in their original language and not rely on translations, any academic and scholar will agree to this) produce a book that is the “final word” on the subject. What is the subject, well while I know, I will not mention it or anything about it – except what I have – for two reasons:

Firstly, because the subject of his book is designed to be inflamatory and to further create friction and strife between the Muslims – between Shia and Sunnah; and secondly because I do not consider the book to be valuable or filled with anything that anyone can benefit from, infact once can argue that even his prowess over the English language is lacking and as a result, even as a source for someone learning English as a language, said book is of no value.

But enough about his “scholarly” works. Let us examine what was actually said in this seminar that has prompted me to write this – now somewhat lengthy and meandering blog post.

In his speech, Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak suggests, that protests, petitions and the ideas of Islamic Unity are farsical (he uses the words “Joke” and “Fiction”), and invalid. He fiegns support of demonstrations and petitions and such activities to promote the call of the oppressed but suggests at the same time that such ideas are without value and have no tangible results.

7amdu lillah, in the second half of the video, the respected Alem, Sayyed Muhammad al-Musawi of the World AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (WABIL) provides an excellent rebuttal to the stupidity of Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak and much much respect to the host of the program who raised the issue and allowed Sayyed Muhammad al-Musawi to respond and remove the stupidity spewed by Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak.

To add to that rebuttal, it should be understood, that we don’t protest or stand by truth and justice simply because we want to see a result. Sure seeing the depots, tyrants and unjust systems and people fall apart and be destroyed would be lovely, but that’s not why we stand on the side of the oppressed. We stand with the oppressed because it our duty. We are the followers of the thousands of Prophet(A)s, from Noah(A) to Abraham(A) who both resisted injustice, to Lot(A) and Job(A) who also faught against injustice tirelessly, from Jacob(A) to Joseph(A) to Jesus(A) who were oppressed by the ignorant and foolish and who continued to speak the truth regardless of the consequences.

We follow the line of those who have resisted injustice since the dawn of time, and who will continue to do so until the sublime name of Allah, the Just Master and Lord of the Universes takes our souls from this temporal realm. We follow the line of Moses(A) who defied the injustice of Pharoah and Hamaan and the hosts and took the original Children of Israel from bondage and brought them liberation. We are also those who follow those many prophets from the Children of Israel, such as John(A) the son of Zakariyyah(A) – commonly known as John(A) the Baptist – who was murdered by the corrupt and oppressive people, who usurped the rights of God and the rights of Humanity in their lust and servitude to their base animalistic instincts.

We are also those who follow the Imam of the Oppressed, Imam al-Mahdi(AJ), may our souls be His ransom. I ask Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak, that for nearly 1400 years now the Muslims have been praying to Allah for the return of Imam al-Mahdi(AJ), since the Imam(AJ) still hasn’t returned what should we give up? Is that also a “Joke” or a “Fiction”? Subhan Allah how ignorant and misguided are you young man?

One could argue – using Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak‘s logic, that since John(A) the Baptist didn’t see the fruits of his resistance he was “Joking around” and wasn’t serious and such things (naudhu billah!), and this further proves why Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak is incompetant and not a person who should be allowed to teach people about Islam. Again if we leverage his logic, Lady Zaynab(A) following the events of Ashura in Karbala shouldn’t have bothered resisting and fighting against Yazid and the Ummayyad Regime, because it wouldn’t have achieved anything (naudhu billah)!

Further, we can say that the whole idea of Islamic Unity because Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak doesn’t quite get it and the many groups and scholars, from the various Islamic Schools of Thought, be they Hanafi, Maliki, Sha’fi, Hanbali, Ja’fari, etc who tell the masses of the Muslims to unite and to be as one are merely spewing a “fiction”. That Rasul Allah(S) when he told the people to be united, that even Allah when Allah tells the people to be united in Quran:

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah’s Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided.
(Quran, Surah Aal-i-Imraan (The Family of Imraan) (#3), Verse #103)

Subhan Allah, how misguided and confused is this person, Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak. It would wiser for him to stick to his Football Club (he and his family own Kettering Town Football Club), and stay away from teaching people about Islam, as clearly he has much to learn himself.

And this is a person who claims that he will be working on an exegesis (tafseer) of the Holy Quran. Subhan Allah!! How strange and how bizzare that an ignorant person can become a mufassir (one who does the exegisis) of Quran, when as I’ve mentioned before, he knows no Arabic and has no access to the original and classical sources, nor does he have the intellectual prowess or understanding to examine these concepts correctly. Rather the tafseer will be based on opinion, and this will then become “tafseer-u-bir’rai” (exegisis based on personal opinion), which is not permitted in Islam as it misguides and confuses the masses and has no basis in any sort of reality!

I remember a few years ago Mr Ladak had come to Leicester to deliver some speeches during Shahr Ramadhan, at a time when I was also attending the Leicester Imam Husayn(A) Mosque. During that time, he asked me if I could explain to him the difference between two tendencies within an Islamic School of Thought (specifically the Usuli and Akhbari tendency). I asked him why he wanted to know this and to what end. He replied that he wanted to speak about it in his next days lecture at Leicester. I pointed out to him, that a lecture is not just for the sake of a lecture. Rather a lecture is so that the people benefit and learn something that they can take away and benefit from in their lives and move themselves closer to Allah. The introduction of the Akhbari / Usuli issue would be a pointless exercise in futility and a waste of time. There were more important subjects that the people needed to be enlightened on.

Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak insisted, and I backed away, I refused to get involved in advising him on a subject which was both pointless (for a plethora of reasons that I will not waste bandwidth going into here), and in fact it was dangerous as it would confuse people on issues where confusion can be a serious serious problem.

He seemed convinced that this was the latest and greated and most important subject on the face of planet Earth, and if it was not discussed, then the sky would fall upon our heads and everything would be destroyed. When I asked him his meaning of the Akhbari and Usuli concepts, his understanding was both inaccurate and invalid, rather it played into the ploys of the likes of Mr Yasir Habib and Mr Mujtaba Shirazi, people who while professing to be Muslims, drive daggers regularly into the heart of the Muslim Ummah on a regular basis. People regarding whome our beloved and most respected Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah(HA) quoting the edict or ruling of the Leader, Imam Khamenei(HA) said quite clearly:

In reality the real Akhbari Ulema are not those who you discover by doing a Google search for the word “Akhbari”, rather the real Akhbariyoun were Ulema from the classical age of Islam, and even now there are some who follow this methodology in places across world including Bahrain and elsewhere. The Akhbariyoun – or rather those who claim to be such from the Indian subcontinent and who can be found very easily by making a Google search have no connection with the real and classical Akhbariyoun, and indeed are nothing like the real and classical Akhbariyoun which included luminaries such as Allamah Hilli(RA), Shaykh Mufid(RA) and many others from the classical age of Islam.

Also, to clarify a misconception, the Akhbariyoun do not believe silly ideas like “We make taqleed of Imam al-Mahdi(AJ)” and “The third shahadah is wajib in prayers and adhaan” and such concepts that are alien to Islam completely, these beliefs that imbeciles like Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak suggest are from the Akhbari school are infact the opinions of some devient groups who are dotted across the world and have taken the name of the Akhbariyoun. They are the “latter-day Akhbaris” and are instrumental in the sectarian strife in Pakistan, the murders of innocents in Parachinar, the misconceptions being spewed by the Saudi Families lackeys and agents about those who follow the school of thought of the Ahl al-Bayt(A) (the followers of the Ja’fari Madhhab) and many such things. These type of complete and abject morons are the reason partially why Palestine remains occupied, and why Makkah and Madinah remain occupied. They provide the oxygen for the Zionists and the Saudi Cults, to ignite the flames of sectarianism within the Ummah.

May Allah protect the Ummah from such fools and such ignorants, and may He guide the Ummah towards Righteousness and Truth and away from the divisive and ignorant thoughts of these fools and those who think like them.

To conclude, and this is a message to heads of Islamic centres – primarily Shia Islamic centres – but to be honest the same applies to all Muslims and all people of Faith. If you have teachers and lecturers coming to your centres to teach the people, be sure those people actually know something. Don’t just go for people who look nice, don’t go for people who court controversy, rather go for people who will teach you. As a starting point the good folk over at Muntazar have a page listing a number of qualified Islamic Students and speakers who speak English. Don’t go for half baked people who will potentially misguide and confuse and discourage your community and people. After all would you feed your family half baked food? You can also examine the sites of the Islamic centre of England and the AhlulBayt Islamic Mission and contact those organisations for reliable and trustworthy speakers and teachers on Islamic Concepts in English. Don’t just rely on people like Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak and those like unto him, don’t rely on other fools who say completely incorrect things like suggesting categorically that Imam Husayn(A) committed suicide as was the case of the illustrius fool Mr Hossein Qazwini and many others who lack any sort of knowledge and wisdom.

You can find the video lectures of many excellent teachers who are qualified and learned and will give your community solid, reliable and stable guidance on places like Shia TV. Lectures on Shia TV can be found in all languages, from English, to Farsi, to Arabic to Urdu and so on. Whatever language your communtiy requires, you can be sure there is a reliable, learned and righteous Islamic Student who can come and lecture – more than likely there are dozens. So don’t destroy your current and next generations by feeding them the poison and stupidity of imbeciles like Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak and Mr Hossein Qazwini and their ilk.

Remember, the title of Shaykh or being an Alem is not something that is handed down as an inheritance. Just because a person’s father was an Alem (Islamic Scholar), that doesn’t immediately mean that they are a scholar and can don the clothes of the Prophet(S) – even partially. A true Islamic student is discovered though his/her actions and their learning and their wisdom. Not because they dazzle the eyes and woo the ears. Remember in Quran, in Surah al-Munafequn, Allah clearly says:

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَقُولُوا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ ۖ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌ ۖ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ هُمُ الْعَدُوُّ فَاحْذَرْهُمْ ۚ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّـهُ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

(Quran, Surah al-Munafequn (The Hypocrites) (#63), Verse #4)

Before I complete this post, yes, I know it’s harsh, yes I know it’s angry. I know Mr Jaffer Ali Ladak personally, and I know what his thinking is about, and indeed he knows me also. His agenda harms the Ummah, his lectures break the spirit of the Ummah, and people such as him and others like unto him need to either stop lecturing and realise that they are accountable for every breath they take. They need to go and study about Islam, go and learn something and then if they still – after learning something – feel they are worthy to speak and wear the clothes of the Prophet(S) – then maybe they can be useful to the Ummah. But until such time as they are properly educated from the Islamic Seminary – in Qum al-Muqaddasah – they are nothing more than a bunch of wanna be lectureres, failing at both the academic level, and instrumental in the misguiding of the people – a task that is quite simply put creating mischief upon the Earth (Mufsed fil Ardh). They should be treated accordingly.

All praise belongs to Allah, in all cases, and we pray that Allah hasten the return of our Master(AJ), Imam al-Mahdi(AJ), the Imam of the Oppressed, and alleviate our suffering.
