Shabbir Hassanally, an activist and commentator, says1 the tragedy of Grenfell Tower happened due to the policies enacted by the UK government, adding that London has been “very weak” in dealing with this incident and it is not showing much “empathy” toward those affected.

“One of the things that I was reading about earlier on was the fire safety inspections and the Tories had created a scenario where some of these fire safety inspections were reduced from six hours to just 45 minutes under the guise of cutting red tape and all of this stuff. So the Tories wanted to remove this what they call a health and safety culture that was hurting money making businesses,” Hassanally told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.
